Dan and I went on the Old 100 Gold Mine Tour today. The mine was a flop in terms of producing any ore but it is a great tour. Interesting. The conditions that people worked under (and still work under) are heart wrenching. The guide was a former worker and very entertaining.
After the tour, we drove a little further up the canyon in the truck and got out and walked. Imagine a valley only 1-2 football fields wide, surrounded by mountains. Lots of green, some wild flowers, quiet and peaceful. It was a wonderful walk up the road to a little waterfall.
As we walked back, there was a bolt of lightning (it rains most afternoons this time of year). The thunder was truely incredible! Imagine a loud thunder clap. Then magnify that 10 times. Then add the echo off the canyon walls. Now that is surround sound!
